The objective of Morley Library is to select, organize, preserve, and to make freely and easily available to all people of the community, printed and non-print materials, within the limitations of space and budget, which will aid them in the pursuit of life-long learning, information, research, recreation, and in the creative use of leisure time.
Morley Library is committed to meeting the informational needs of the diverse population of the Painesville area. Morley Library develops and offers collections, resources, services, and space to meet these needs. Users of a Morley Library meeting room must adhere to the following rules and guidelines.
Sidewalks and open spaces fall within traditional public forum. In order to support the democratic process, Morley Library permits petitioners to be on Library premises under the following circumstances:
Morley Library Board of Trustee meetings are public meetings, and as such, may be observed by members of the public.
Morley Library is committed to the open flow of information that leads to a better informed citizenry. To that end, it is the policy of Morley Library to maintain as appropriate and release for public information any public records in accordance with Ohio’s Public Records Act.
Section I. Public Records
Materials not returned are unavailable for others to use or borrow. In order to practice strong stewardship of community resources and responsible customer service, Morley Library will work with a collection agency in order to retrieve long overdue materials and collect excessive fines.
Morley Library offers two study rooms on the Third floor in order to allow people working together to do so without disturbing other users of the library. Morley Library’s Behavior and Conduct Policy applies in any study room use.
The safety of the Library’s Patrons and Staff is paramount.
Weapons are not appropriate in a Library, nor are they permitted by law.
Weapons are defined as a handgun, rifle, knife, substance, and / or any other object whose purpose or use is to inflict physical harm to another individual.
