Interior Improvements to begin in April at Morley Library
Interior improvements including new flooring, paint, furniture, and repurposing of several meeting spaces will begin at Morley Library in April. The library will remain open to the public throughout the process, with some temporary limitations in place in areas that are under construction. The library has contracted with GPD Group and Lakeland Management to do the work, and the project is planned to be completed by early September 2026.
Morley Library’s Board of Trustees and staff have been engaged in a planning process for the interior upgrades for several years, using the library’s strategic plan (created with input from a community survey) as a guide. The Board of Trustees approved a budget of $1.7 million from the library’s Building Fund for the project. This fund consists of monies that have been budgeted over time to be used specifically for major facility improvements and repairs.
Library Director Aurora Martinez said, “This project consists of completion of deferred regular maintenance of our facility, which was built in 2004 and needs new flooring, furniture, and fresh paint after more than 20 years. Over time, the needs of our patrons have changed and some of our spaces are being modified to best fit service needs and preferences. We look forward to welcoming community members to a refreshed and updated facility later this year, and we thank everyone in advance for their patience and cooperation during the renovation process.”
Upcoming improvements to the library include:
Renovation updates will be posted periodically on the library’s website at www.morleylibrary.org and on the library’s Facebook and Instagram accounts.
