Teen Programs 2019

Morley Library's Teen Services Department provides assistance and programming to all teens in our community, and serves as a resource to support the informational, recreational, and educational needs of teens.

The following programs are for teens in grades 7 - 12.  Register online by clicking on the program date and completing the registration form.  Teens may also register for programs at the Reference Desk on the 3rd floor, or call Morley Library at 440-352-3383.

A Universe of Stories Teen Summer Reading Club

Tuesday, May 28 - Friday, July 19 at the 3rd floor Reference Desk

There's no reason to be bored this summer when a "Universe of Stories" awaits you at Morley Library!  Teens in grades 7-12 can register for the summer reading club for the chance to win some cool prizes!  Don't forget that students entering the 7th grade in the fall can register for BOTH the Children and Teen Summer Reading programs for double the chances to win prizes! Stop by the Reference Desk on the 3rd floor to register AND receive your free gift.  We'll also have special programs you can participate in throughout the summer.  Read a little or a lot, but the more you read, the more chances you have to win!  You can learn more by viewing our Teen Summer Reading page.

Reading Rewards Program

As an added incentive, you can track the number of minutes you read this summer to earn Morley Bucks - OR - Friends of Morley Library vouchers!  For every 60 minutes of reading you can earn either one Morley Buck which can be used to pay off library card fines, or one Friends' voucher to be used in their bookshop.

A Universe of Pictures: Digital Photo Contest

Enter your digital photo(s) by emailing them to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by the end of the day on July 19, 2019.  Photos will be judged for artistic expression and originality.  All entries will be displayed on our website. One grand prize winner will receive a $25 Amazon gift card and one Runner-up will win a $10 Amazon gift card!

Wednesdays:  June 5, 12, 19, & 26, 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. in the Basement Classroom

Teens are welcome to drop by Teen Central (a.k.a. Basement Classroom) for gaming, hanging out with friends, arts, and crafts!  No registration is necessary.  Bring friends!

Teen Science Project:  Plants in Space!

Tuesday, June 4, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the Activity Room

NASA understands that plants are beneficial for space travel and that one day it might be necessary to grow crops on other planets. Come explore the hydroponics system by growing seeds without soil to discover how plants might survive a long journey in space.
Registration is required.

Teen Movie Night:  The Martian

Tuesday, June 11, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. in the Activity Room

How does a stranded astronaut survive on the hostile planet of Mars?  Join us to find out.  We'll have pizza and popcorn too!
No registration necessary.

Cosmic Bath Bombs

Tuesday, June 18, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the Activity Room

Reduce stress with DIY fizzy bath bombs that smell great and resemble the planets of our solar system!
Registration is required.

Teen Movie Matinee:  Apollo 11 & Planet Fact Finder

Saturday, June 22, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the Activity Room

Stop by the library for a teen movie matinee.  We'll watch a cool documentary with never before seen footage of the Apollo 11 Moon landing and create a planet fact finder!  Adults, and children accompanied by a parent, are also welcome! 
No registration is necessary.

Teen Shadow Theater: It Came From Outer Space!

Tuesday, June 25, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. in Basement Meeting Rooms A & B

Join us if you love improv and theater!  With shadow puppets and creativity we'll produce a Sci-Fi thriller in the classic style of a B-movie!

Galaxy Gazer Jars

Tuesday, July 2, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the Activity Room

Create a galaxy in a jar with glow-in-the dark paint to make a luminous decoration for a summer night!

Cracked Moon Necklace

Tuesday, July 9, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. in the Activity Room

Find out what happens when you bake marbles in the oven, and create your own beautiful necklace too! 
Registration is required.

Stomp Rockets & Other Flying Machines

Tuesday, July 16, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. in Basement Meeting Rooms A & B

Make your own foot-powered rocket and other flying machines using recycled materials!
Registration is required.

Summer Reading Celebration

Saturday, July 20, 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. in Basement Meeting Room A

Choose from vanilla or chocolate ice cream to start your sundae.  Then, top with a sampling of syrups and candies.  Try astronaut ice cream and dehydrated fruits, too!  All ages welcome.  Children must be accompanied by an adult, please.
