Teen Summer Volunteers for Children's Programs

The Children's Room is in need of teen volunteers for several upcoming summer children's programs:

Touch-a-Truck ~ Saturday, June 8th ~ 2.5 hour shift from 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Kids Indoor Carnival ~ Saturday, July 6th ~ 3 hour shift from 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Marble Run Madness!

Tuesday, May 21st - The Story Room - 4:00 - 5:30 PM

It's Marble Run Madness at Morley Library! Test your wits to see what you can build, and then have fun speed testing your marble race track against other kids' creations! The sky is the limit! This is a drop-in program with no registration needed, but parents must stay with children 8 and younger.

Baby Beginnings: Summer Infant Safety Class

Thursday, May 23rd - Project Room - 6:30 - 7:00 PM

Parents of infants, we invite you to a FREE summer infant safety class led by Registered Newborn Nurses from Baby Beginnings. Make summer fun and safe for your children Featured topics include: Fun in the Sun; Water/Pool Safety tips; Car Safety; Bugs “Buggin” you? How to take care of Bug Bites and Stings; SafeTravel; Fighting back against germs; Home Safety; & Some fun outside activities for you and your baby.

This class is FREE but registration is required. Please register individually. Registration begins 2 weeks before the class on Thursday, May 9th.

The 2019 Children's Summer Reading Club: A Universe of Stories

A Universe of Stories ~ Stop by the Children's Room to register your child, age birth through entering 7th grade, for the Morley Library Children's Summer Reading Club! The Summer Reading Club runs for 8 weeks and every day that your child reads for 20 minutes or more s/he will receive an entry for our big prize drawing! With fun weekly prizes, amazing performers, and awesome weekly programs, summer will never have a dull moment at Morley Library! Kids Scavenger Hunt

Saturday, June 1st through Saturday, June 15th

Kids 12 and under can participate in a fun, FREE picture Scavenger Hunt in the Children's Room. Find all 10 pictures hiding around the Children's Room, then turn in your sheet for a free, small prize from the treasure chest. Limit once per child, please.

There's No Place Like Space! Build-a-Martian Workshop

Saturday, June 1st - Story Room - 11:00 - 11:45 AM

For kids ages 3-8. You're invited to build your very own martian to take home and keep! Join us for this Build-A-Martian workshop and storytime featuring There's No Place Like Space: All About Our Solar System (Cat In the Hat Learning Library). This is a FREE workshop but space is limited to the first 20 kids who register and each child must be accompanied by an adult to assist in the stuffing process.

Registration is required and begins on 2 weeks before the program on Saturday, May 18th.

Space is the Place - Wump Mucket Puppet Show

Friday, June 7th - Meeting Rooms AB - 2:00 - 3:00 PM

Wump Mucket Puppets presents Space is the Place - Launching Summer 2019! Space is the Place is a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Featured stories in the show include:
Squatch on The Moon
 where Coleman the Sasquatch dreams about traveling to the stars and landing on the moon.  Coleman’s dream happens after he reads about the real-life astronauts who made the historic journey fifty years ago.
Super Space Princess and the Pirates from Zwonk
 returns to our stage with new songs and silliness.  In this story, our cast performs a sci-fi tale of Princess G’Wizzl discovering her superpowers just in time to save her uncle’s kingdom from the Star Pirates.  Will she send the Pirate Captain to the dungeon to peel potatoes? 

Due to limited seating, this is a ticketed event. Tickets are FREE and will be available at the Children's Desk one week prior to the show on Friday, May 31st.

Touch-a-Truck!

Saturday, June 8th - Job & Family Services Parking Lot behind Morley Library - 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Are you wild about trucks? Get up close and personal! We will have an assortment of awesome trucks and vehicles on hand to explore in the parking lot behind the library, plus you can meet the pros who operate them. No registration needed.

Toddler Craft - Solar System Creations

Monday, June 10th - Project Room - 10:30 - 11:00 AM

For toddlers 2-4.  Enjoy a free half hour art session with your toddler and leave the mess to us!  Have your little one experiment and make their own solar system with coffee filters, water, glue, paint and glitter! Be sure to have your child bring or wear a cover-up.

Registration is required and begins two weeks before the program on Tuesday, May 28th. 

Books on the Bus! Storytime on a Laketran Bus

Tuesday, June 11th - Morley Library parking lot - 11:00 - 11:30 AM

Join us for a special transportation storytime on a Laketran Bus! Laketran will have a bus parked in the Morley Library parking lot, and families will board for a 30-minute parked storytime.

Due to limited space, registration is required and begins on Tuesday, May 28th. Please register all people in your party, including adults, so that everyone has a seat.

Bilingual Storytime with the Painesville Police Department

Saturday, June 22nd - Story Room - 11:00 - 11:30 AM

Come and get up close and personal with a Painesville Police Department in this bilingual Storytime! A Painesville Police Officer will read you a story or two in both and English and Spanish. Afterwards, you can enjoy a fun craft and meet the Police Officer! No registration is necessary.

Outback Ray's Amazing Animal Show

Saturday, June 22nd - Meeting Rooms AB - 1:00 - 2:00 PM

Join us for this educational, entertaining show and meet Outback Ray's amazing animals! From Spongebob the Python to Oscar the cockroach and everything in between! Fun for the whole family!

Due to limited seating, this is a TICKETED EVENT. Tickets are free and can be picked up at the Children's Desk starting Saturday, June 15th.

Saturday, June 29th - Story Room - 11:00 - 11:45 AM

Maybe you have heard of Orion the constellation but have you ever heard of Orion the multipurpose crew vehicle? NASA used to rely on ocean landings called "splashdowns" to get their crew back safely to Earth. Come learn more about NASA and their crew exploration vehicles. Then you will get to build your very own Crew Exploration Vehicle with your family. Once designed and built, your CEV will be put through our very own "splashdown test" to see whether it is up to the task! This program is geared towards families with children 12 and under and no registration is required.

If you're up for a mind-bending mystery, try our rubber ducky prize station! If you’re tired of the heat, bugs, and humidity come on down and enjoy a morning of old-fashioned fun. We’ll have snacks, activities and games galore, and all for FREE! All ages welcome, and no registration needed.

Space Ranger Training

Saturday, July 13th - Story Room - 11:00 - 11:45 AM

Do you think you have what it takes to be a space ranger? Decode alien messages, test your precision with bowling, and complete other missions. Families with children 12 and under are asked to join us to receive their certification as a space ranger. No registration is needed.

Baby Craft

Tuesday, July 16th - Project Room - 10:30 - 11:00 AM

For babies age 0-1.  Enjoy a free half hour art session with baby and create a keepsake for when your little one isn’t so little anymore!  Fake your own moon landing and, as evidence, show your baby’s footprints on the moon! 

Registration is required and begins two weeks before the program on Tuesday, July 2nd. Please register your baby's name only.

Don't forget--today is the LAST DAY of the Children's Summer Reading Club: Libraries Rock! All tickets for the prize drawing need to be turned into the prize containers on the Children's floor by 5:00 pm. The prize drawing will take place during the week of July 22nd and all winners will be contacted by phone. Good luck and thanks for reading with Morley Library this summer!
