Fall Paws 2 Read

Attention young readers, certified therapy dogs will be stopping by on specific dates from October through December from 6:30 to 7:30 to sit with you and listen to you read. This program is intended for independent readers ages 5 to 12. Parent or guardian must sign waiver. First come, first seated for a 10 minute reading slot - no pre-registration.

Kids 12 and under can participate in a fun, FREE picture Scavenger Hunt in the Children's Room. Find all 10 pictures hiding around the Children's Room, then turn in your sheet for a free, small prize from the treasure chest. Limit once per child, please.

Family Turkey BINGO!

Saturday, November 16th - Project Room - 11:00 - 11:45 AM

Gobble gobble! Turkey day is almost here so celebrate library-style! Families with children ages 12 and under are invited to enjoy a Thanksgiving story and then build their own turkey-themed BINGO boards and play a few rounds of Turkey BINGO! Every child will receive a prize. No registration needed.

Join us as some members of the Harvey High School Red Raider Football Team come to help us celebrate your two favorite things: books and football! Listen to some football stories, play a few games, and do a cool football craft!  For families with children 12 and under.  No registration needed.

Baby Ornament Craft

Tuesday, December 3rd & Tuesday December 10th - Project Room - 10:00 - 10:30 AM

For babies age 0-1.  Enjoy two free half-hour art sessions with baby and create a keepsake for when your little one isn’t so little anymore!  Press baby's feet or hands into salt dough to create an awesome holiday ornament and then come back the next week to decorate them! 

Registration is required and begins two weeks before the program on Tuesday, November 19th. This is a two-day craft project so please plan on attending both days, Dec. 3rd and 10th.

Family Holiday Cookie Decorating

Saturday, December 7th - Project Room - 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

We invite families to join us for a fun morning of holiday cookie decorating! Drop by the Project Room on the Children's Floor between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM to frost and decorate a pre-baked cookie. Then enjoy it here or take it home for a special treat. All supplies provided for free by Morley Library. No registration needed.

The Polar Express

Saturday, December 14th - Meeting Rooms AB - 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

All aboard the Polar Express! For children ages 3-8 and their parents. Celebrate the magic of the holiday season with the classic children's movie, The Polar Express. Kids will be decorating cardboard box train cars and watching the movie "drive-in" style, then taking the cars home after the movie. Light snacks will be served.

Registration is necessary as space is limited. Registration opens 2 weeks before the program on Nov. 30th. Please register your child(s) name, not yourself. Parents must stay with children.

Family Gift Makerspace

Saturday, December 21st - Project Room - 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

For families with children 12 and under.  Oh no! Did you forget to do your holiday shopping?  Haven’t been able to find the perfect gift?  Come and make some gifts for your loved ones here at Morley library!  Our makerspace will be set up for some creative holiday fun with several crafts you can make to give to someone you love. No registration is necessary.

Reading with Reptiles

Saturday, December 28th - Story Room - 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM

We are offering independent readers under the age of 12 an exciting way to practice reading! Four tame lizards from the Herps Alive Foundation in South Euclid are visiting with us for you to pet/hold as you read your favorite picture book to them! Registration required. Starting December 14th please call 440-352-3383 or stop by to pick your favorite lizard (pictures will be available at the children's desk) and sign up for a 15 minute time slot between 10:30-12:00.
 
Participants should be able to read on their own for this program. Younger siblings not yet reading are welcome to share a time slot with an older sibling.

Children's Winter Reading Club!

Sunday, January 5th through Saturday, February 22nd

Kids 12 and under can stop by the Children's Desk to pick up a Winter Reading Log and start reading! The Children's Winter Reading Club will run for 7 weeks. All children who turn in their reading log at least once receive a FREE book! Additionally, for every day that a child reads or is read to for at least 20 minutes, s/he will receive an entry into the prize raffle. Prizes include gift certificates, toys, and a Kindle Fire tablet! Registration is ongoing starting January 5th.

Nora the Explorer

Bring the whole family to Morley Library for animal educator Nora the Explorer as she brings her collection of creatures! From creepy and crawly to soft and fluffy, her collection includes a parrot, rabbit, chinchilla, bugs, snakes, lizards and more.All ages welcome and no registration necessary.

Calling all homeschoolers age 6-12 years! Do you love art? Join other homeschoolers to discuss art techniques and make some beautiful creations! Please dress for mess as we may be doing some messier projects. Registration is required and will begin two weeks before each session. Storytime with the Mentor Ice Breakers!

Saturday, January 18th ~ Story Room ~ 11:00 - 11:30 AM

Join us for a very special storytime with members of Mentor's pro hockey team, the Mentor Ice Breakers! The Ice Breakers are the newest team in the FHL and will help us celebrate National Skating Month. Enjoy fun stories about ice skating read by pro hockey players themselves, and learn about all the programs that the Mentor Civic Ice Arena has to offer. No registration needed.

Toddler Craft: Blow Art

Monday, January 20th ~ Project Room ~ 10:30 - 11:00 AM

For toddlers 2-4.  Enjoy a free half hour art session with your toddler and leave the mess to us! Toddlers blow through straws onto paint drops to create cool creatures.  Be sure to have your child bring or wear a cover-up.

Registration is required and begins two weeks before the program on Monday, January 6th. Please register your child's name only, not your own.

Library Winter Olympics

If you can't wait around for this year's Summer Olympics this is the program for you! 96 years ago today the very first winter Olympics kicked off in France. We will have Olympics-Inspired crafts for you to take home as well as kid friendly Olympics-Style "sporting events" to take part in. See if you can take home a medal! This program is geared towards families with children 12 and under and no registration is required.

Noah's Ark Animal Workshop: Build-a-Polar Bear

Saturday, February 1st ~ Story Room ~ 11:00 - 11:45 AM

For kids ages 3-8. You're invited to build your very own polar bear cub to take home and keep! Join us for this Build-A-Bear workshop and storytime. This is a FREE workshop but space is limited to the first 20 kids who register and each child must be accompanied by an adult to assist in the stuffing process.

Registration is required and begins on 2 weeks before the program on Saturday, January 18th.

The Magic of Michael Mage

Known as a comedian stuck in a magician’s shoes, national award-winning magician Michael Mage incorporates comedy and endless audience participation into this hilarious show. Jiggling Jello

This week is National Jello Week, so let’s play with our food!  Come and squish jello through your fingers, paint with jello, explode jello, decorate jello and, of course, eat jello!  This is a family program and no registration is required.

Frog-tastic Leap Day Celebration!

Wonderful Women! A Celebration of International Women's Day

Tomorrow is International Women's Day! So many woman have impacted our culture, from Cleopatra to Rosie the Riveter, J.K. Rowling to Raina Telgemeier,  Frida Kahlo to Greta Thunberg, and many more. We will have a scavenger hunt as well as different crafts and games to explore and honor these wonderful women. This program is geared towards families with children 12 and under and no registration is required.

St. Patrick's Day Craft & Scavenger Hunt
