“Girl Singers” pays tribute to the popular female vocalists of the 40s and 50s who immortalized many of the classics from the Great American Songbook. Take a trip down memory lane with the songs and stories of ladies like Doris Day, Rosemary Clooney, Billie Holiday, Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald and more. Hosted by vocalist Eileen Burns and backed by a trio of some of Cleveland's best jazz musicians: Joe Hunter (piano), Demetrius Steinmetz (bass) and Dave Sterner (saxophone).

Behold the Dreamers, by Imbolo Mbue. Jende Jonga and his family, immigrants from Cameroon, have come to America to build a better life. The financial crisis brings with it the threat of job loss for Jende. As a result, he and his wife Neni must make an impossible choice.

Imbolo Mbue will be the Keynote Speaker, on Saturday, April 13, at the Northcoast Writer's Showcase, hosted by Lake/Geauga Public Libraries. Lakeland Community College, 11AM - 5PM. This event is open to the public. Registration is required.
