Children's Room Programs

January Programs:

Children's Winter Reading Club Begins

Sunday, January 7th through Saturday, February 17th

Kids 12 and under can stop by the Children's Desk to pick up a Winter Reading Log and start reading! The Children's Winter Reading Club will run for 6 weeks. All children who turn in their reading log at least once receive a FREE book! Additionally, for every day that a child reads or is read to for at least 20 minutes, s/he will receive an entry into the prize raffle. Prizes include gift certificates, toys, and a Kindle Fire tablet!

Registration is ongoing starting January 7th. The Morley Library Children's Winter Reading Club is generously sponsored by the Painesville Rotary Club.

The Dr. UR Awesome Bubble Show!

Saturday, January 20th - Meeting Room AB - 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Dr. UR Awesome has mastered the art of the bubble! Join us in Meeting Room AB to watch the current Guinness World Record Holder for largest indoor and outdoor soap bubbles perform amazing feats of bubble magic. All ages welcome, no registration needed.

Don't forget to stop by the Children's Desk and sign up for the Children's Winter Reading Club to receive a FREE book and raffle prize tickets for some awesome prizes! The Children's Winter Reading Club is generously sponsored by the Painesville Rotary Club.

KIDS CRAFTERNOON!

Thursday, January 25th - Children's Room Rotunda - 3:00 - 7:00 PM

Make a FREE kids craft! Drop by the Children's Room Rotunda to make a free color-your-own winter drawstring tote bag. As supplies last, small children may need help.

No registration needed.

Wintertime Fun!

Saturday, January 27th - 11:00 - 11:45 AM

For kids grades K-3rd. Enjoy some winter fun while staying warm inside the library! Play some winter-themed games, read a story, and make a fun craft. 

Registration is required and will begin 2 weeks before the program on January 13th.

February Programs:

Valentine's Scavenger Hunt

Thursday, February 1st through Thursday, February 15th

Kids 12 and under can participate in a fun, FREE picture Scavenger Hunt in the Children's Room. Find all 10 pictures hidden around the Children's Room and turn in your sheet for a free, small prize from the treasure chest. Limit once per child, please.

Jungle Terry & Friends

Saturday, February 3rd - Meeting Room AB - 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Join us for an educational and engaging family-friendly show featuring Jungle Terry's famous animals, including reptiles, birds, and more! Jungle Terry has been visiting Morley Library to teach kids about wild animal education and conservation for over 30 years. Experience his animals up close in this interactive, participatory animal show.

No registration needed and all ages are welcome to attend.

Chinese New Year Celebration!

Saturday, February 10th - Story Room - 11:00 - 11:45 AM

You’ve celebrated Western New Year, now celebrate again! Hear the story of the Chinese New Year and help us chase away the dragon of last year! After the story, we will make a themed craft to bring in the New Year!

This is a family program and no registration is required.

February Baby Craft

Tuesday, February 13th - Project Room - 10:30 - 11:00 AM

For babies ages 0-2. Enjoy a free half hour art session for caregivers and babies. Make a wooden handprint/footprint LOVE sign for Valentine's Day.

Registration is necessary and begins 2 weeks before the program on Jan. 30th. Please just register your baby's name. (Signs will be pre-painted red).

The Construction Zone

Tuesday, February 13th - Story Room - 4:00 - 5:00 PM

Drop by the Story Room between 4:00-5:00 PM for The Construction Zone! Build a LEGO creation or test your marble race track skills and have your picture taken for the new Construction Club wall. All ages welcome, parents must stay with children ages 5 and under.

No registration needed.

Winter Olympics Party

Saturday, February 17th - Meeting Room AB - 11:00 - 11:45 AM

For kids in grades K-3rd. Let's celebrate the Winter Olympics, library-style! We'll read Olympic stories, have fun playing Winter Olympic games, and make a tasty Olympic-themed snack. Everyone will leave a winner!

Registration is necessary and will begin 2 weeks before the program on Saturday, Feb. 3rd.

For kids in grades K-3rd. Calling all princes and princesses!  Wear your best prince or princess costume (optional).  We will read a fairy tale or two, play some majestic games, and make a magical craft.

Registration is required and will begin 2 weeks before the program on February 10th.

Stop by to help us celebrate the birthday of the late, great Dr. Seuss! Participate in a fun, free scavenger hunt and win a small prize. Make a Seuss-tastic craft, play a candy guessing game, and enjoy a free mini-cupcake!

No registration needed. This celebration is for families with children ages 12 and under.

Holi: The Festival of Colors!

Saturday, March 3rd - Project Room - 11:00 - 11:45 AM

Let’s welcome the coming of Spring this year with a rainbow of colors! We’ll explore this Hindu Spring festival of love, family and forgiveness through storytelling, music and art!

This is a family program for kids ages 12 and under and no registration is required.

Paws 2 Read

Saturday, March 10th - Children's Room - 11:00 AM - 12:35 PM

Bark all about it, Paws 2 Read is back! Paws 2 Read is a program that encourages readers of all abilities to relax and read in a comforting environment with a friendly, certified therapy dog for 15 minutes.

Registration is necessary and opens two weeks before the program on Feb. 24th. To register, please call the Children's Room at 440-352-3383 to choose a dog and a time slot for your child.
