GENEALOGY &
LOCAL HISTORY COLLECTIONS
1898 ATLAS OF LAKE COUNTY,
OHIO
This book is over one
hundred years old. Being in a public library collection it has had hard use,
well beyond what would be expected for an item this age. The paper is fragile.
Over the years pages have
gone missing. These includes pages 88 through 103, with maps for Kirtland
Township, Fairport, Madison Village, Mentor Village, Painesville Village, and
Richmond (now called the Village of Grand River).
This Atlas can be accessed
online at Lake County Geographic Information System (GIS) webpage
http://www.lakegis.org/TaxMap/, use the link for the Lake County Tax Map
Department
http://www.lakegis.org/TaxMap/, and then choose Surveys
http://www.lakegis.org/TaxMap/SURVEYS.htm. [see view below]
Also available is a color
version map made from the 1898 Atlas at
http://www.lakegis.org/flexviewer/index.html.
N.B. These graphic images
are large files and will take time to download.

These are our most recent surveys we have on file. Lake County instituted
conveyance standards on January 1, 2001. One requirement is the submission
of a survey when splitting properties or creating a new metes and bounds
description. These submittals have been scanned in TIFF and PDF format
for viewing and downloading.
These are old archived surveys that the Tax Map Department has collected
over the years. They range in years from early 1900's to just before the
inception of the current conveyance standards in January 2001. These have
been scanned in TIFF and PDF format for viewing and downloading.
