Friends of Morley Library Book Cellar Gift Certificates are going on sale!

Just in time for holiday gift giving!  Friends of Morley Library Book Cellar Gift Certificates will go on sale October 11th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Book Cellar Book Sale.

Need a gift idea for the reader in your family?  Purchase a Friends of Morley Library Book Cellar Gift Certificate and not only give them the gift of books, but help support Morley Library at the same time.  Gift Certificate recipients will have the opportunity to browse the shelves of the Book Cellar for that perfect book.

The $5 Gift Certificates will also include a bonus of $1 of free books when the certificate is fully used.  The gift certificates are redeemable only at the Book Cellar Sales and have no expiration date.  Gift Certificates make perfect stocking stuffers... buy several today and support your library!

Friends of Morley Library suspends Used Book Donations
until Jan. 1, 2015

Due to a large donation and increased library contributions, we must temporarily discontinue Used Book Donations.  Our Book Cellar is already overflowing with books.  Therefore we will not accept Used Book Donations until January 1st, 2015.  Thank you.

December 13th, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Sales are held in the Friends Book Cellar on the Library's lower level.  Over 12,000 gently-used books will be on sale along with CDs, DVDs and audiobooks.

Proceeds from our Used Book Sales support and supplement Library programs.

Friends of Morley Library Table Top Tree Auction at Rider's Inn

Get a jump on the Xmas season and decorate a Table Top Tree for our annual Tree Auction.  We supply the tree, you supply the inspiration and decoration!  Pick up your tree at Morley Library (184 Phelps St. in Painesville) at the October 11th Book Sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. or call 352-3383, ext. 401 to arrange a pick up.  Decorations are tax deductible!

Decide on a theme and decorate the tree, then return it to the library.  The auction is held at Rider's beginning on Friday, November 28th.  Stop by Rider's to see the trees on display and bid on your favorites.  (no restaurant purchase is required)

Proceeds from the auction support and supplement Morley Library programs.

Membership - Membership in the Friends is open to everybody.  This membership application may be printed or applications are available at the Circulation Desk. 

Meetings - The Friends of Morley Library Board meets the second Wednesday of every month, at 4:30 PM in the Morley Library Meeting Rooms.

Scholarships - The John R. Gardner scholarship for staff development has been awarded 11 times and this year was given to Barbara Bailey and Jennifer Webster.


1. Used Book Sales:  Held several times during the year, book sales are the source of most Friends' income.  Upcoming sales are always announced on this web page.   Book sales are held in the Friends of Morley Library "Book Cellar" on the lower level.

2. Annual Membership Meeting: Date to be announced, this event usually features a local author or celebrity or other entertainment.

3. Table Top Tree Silent Auction at Rider's Inn:  Beautifully decorated holiday trees are up for bid during early December.  Trees or wreaths are provided to the volunteer decorators.  Want to decorate a tree for the next silent auction?  Call the Friends @ 352-3383, ext. 401 and leave us a message.

4. On-going Book Sale:
Recent bestsellers and other books are almost always for sale.  Look for these books on the Display Case near the stairs.

5. Gift Basket Auction: Usually held the week after Easter, beautifully themed gift baskets are on display.  Buy your tickets and decide which basket you might like to win!  Want to contribute a basket or items for a basket? Call the Friends @ 352-3383, ext. 401 and leave us a message.
