This Index is for obituaries and death notices of Lake County residents or persons with connections to Lake County. The primary newspapers indexed are the PAINESVILLE TELEGRAPH (title varies) from July 16, 1822 to April 30, 1986, when it ceased publication, and the News-Herald from May 1, 1986 to the present. Also included are obituaries from the NORTHERN OHIO JOURNAL (Painesville), July 11, 1874 to June 26, 1880; the PAINESVILLE REPUBLICAN, 1898 to 1906; and the WILLLOUGHBY GAZETTE, Oct. 1, 1868 to Sept. 25, 1869. Some obituaries were missed. If you do not find a person's name in the index and you know the date of death, you may wish to read the newspapers. The online database currently contains obituaries from 1 January 1998 to the present along with those from A through M for the period of 1830 through 1997.
