YOUR LIBRARY CARD

Young people under the age of 12 must accompany a parent or guardian to the library to sign an application card. A form of picture ID is needed by the adult to apply for a child’s card or an adult card.

Like the use of a credit card, a library card needs to be used in a responsible manner.

Below are some suggestions to help young people use a library card in such a manner.

Keep books in a safe place at home. Keep books away from pets, food, toddlers, etc. which might accidentally damage books.

Keep books and AV material in a special box, drawer, etc. after using the material. You will always know where to look when returning the items.

Mark a calendar in a child’s room with the due date that the books are to be returned. All books have due date cards. Check out slips lists books and most book material is checked out for 3 weeks. (Video fines, however, can add up if you do not return them on time)

When the library is closed books & AV materials may be returned to the book drops on the north side of the building.

Books may be returned on the bookmobile.

Books may be renewed over the phone or from Patron Review on our catalog. Library card numbers and book bar codes are needed for phone renewals.

Encourage regular use of the library to help the child become a life long learner.

If you are concerned about the materials your child checks out, it is important to come to the library and help your child select items. The library staff will be happy to help you.

Report a lost or stolen card to the library. Replacement cards are available.

A child can have video borrowing privileges only if a parent comes to the library and signs a Video Borrower’s Application. New video fines are a $1.00 per day per video all others are $.50. Most videos may be checked out for one week. New videos are checked out for 3 days.

Remember:

Free library service is a great bargain.

There are lots of items to choose from and new items added daily.

The Librarian is your book person. Let him or her help you.

Public libraries are here for YOU. Enjoy!
